The emergency lighting system is operated by a three position EMER LTG switch (SI059) located on the pilot's lighting subpanel. The EMER LTG switch ON position provides power to all emergency lights from the airplane battery/generator system when available or from the emergency lighting battery packs (UC019, Forward and UC020, Aft).
In case of failure of the normal system, the EMER LTG switch ARM position provides automatic activation of all emergency lights, such as the loss of normal electrical power or in case the airplane experiences a five gravity (5 G) force. The The EMER LTG switch OFF position disables the emergency lighting system.
Adjacent to the EMER LTG switch (SI059) is an amber light which
illuminates when airplane power is on and the emergency lighting system is not armed.
The emergency exit lighting battery packs are being charged by a precision current limiter charging circuit, at any time that the main airplane power is on and the emergency lighting circuit breakers EMER LIGHTS-FWD (HT043) and EMER LIGHTS-AFT (HT048) are engaged.
The forward emergency battery pack (UC019) illuminates the following lights:
(1) Main Cabin Entrance Door
Emergency Exit Sign.
(2) Cabin Reading Lights.
(3) Right Exterior Emergency Exit
Light.
(4) Left Engine Instrument Light
(during engine start only).
(5) Right Dropped Aisle Lighting.
The aft emergency battery pack (UC020) illuminates the following lights:
(1) Emergency Escape Door
Emergency Exit Sign.
(2) Exterior Over-the-Wing Escape
Route Light (both lights).
(3) Cabin Right Reading Lights.
(4) Left Exterior Emergency Light.
(5) Right Dropped Aisle Lighting.
